Technical Glossary Vacuum Lamination

[Vacuum Lamination]

During optical bonding it is extremely important that no bubbles form between the optical bonding materials and other displays components. Vacuum lamination, a technique in which bonding is performed in a vacuum or low pressure environment, is extremely effective in reducing air bubbles. However, as it takes time to create a vacuum, bonding at atmospheric pressure is more efficient in mass production.
Special machinery is required for vacuum lamination. Several manufacturers around the world produce such devices, each with their own unique features.
